Dr. Barke opened the meeting at 6:32 p.m. and reported that at 4:30 p.m. Superintendent Kropp presented a workshop on Human Relations and Social Media.

Dr. Barke reported that the Board went into closed session at 5:50 p.m. No action was taken.

What:  Renewal of an agreement with Kuder Career Planning system for 2018-2019

Where:  McAuliffe and Oak Middle Schools

When:  September 30, 2018-September 30, 2019

Why:  Kuder Career Planning System provides a secure, online personal portfolio for each individual to access throughout his/her educational program.  All information is stored and may be accessed by counselors and parents in order to support the guidance process.  Curriculum support activities are correlated to the National Career Development and School Counseling Standards.  Assignments will be available online when students are absent.

Cost:  Cost will not exceed $1,700.00 and will be be paid from Community Collaborative (CTE) Grant.

When:  November 2 - 4, 2018 (Students will miss one day of school.)

Why:  Students will have an opportunity to experience some of the marine related topics in their actual environment that they study at Los Alamitos High School in marine biology classes.

Why:  Students will have an opportunity to visit the California State Capitol, and discover the impact that the Transcontinental Railroad had on California and the nation during their visit to the Railroad Museum.  This is also an opportunity for students to bring what they are learning about the California Gold Rush to life.

Cost:  Cost will not exceed $440.00 per students and will be paid for by parent/student donations.

What:  Agreement of an Amendment to an Agreement with Illuminate Education to Upgrade Los Alamitos Unified School District's Test Bank to Inspect Plus

Why:  This upgrade will double the number of items in the test bank and allows for teachers to create assessments. 

Cost:  There is no cost for 2018/2019.  Cost will not exceed $22,302.00 annually and will be paid for from Educational Services LCFF funds.

Minutes:
Mrs. Karen Russell discussed attending the State of the District and thanked the Los Alamitos Education Foundation (LAEF).

Mrs. Meg Cutuli reported her attendance at the community meeting that was held at the McGaugh Auditorium which was very informative.

Mrs. Cutuli discussed attending the Back-to-School Night at the high school, the Los Al Chamber Breakfast, and an ROP Meeting.

Mrs. Cutuli also reported her attendance at the State of the District, Leisure World Expo and the Seal Beach City District Working Group Meeting. Mrs. Cutuli also attended the PTA Council Meeting and her granddaughter's JV volleyball game.

Mrs. Russell wanted to also add she attended the monthly SELPA meeting where Kathy Thomason, Business Manager, was recognized as Employee of the Year.

Mrs. Diana Hill reported her attendance at the Los Alamitos High School's Back-to-School Night, the Start with Hello event at the high school, and Eric Bowman’s funeral. Mrs. Hill also discussed attending the September 11 flag ceremony at McGaugh.

Mrs. Hill discussed attending the meeting at McGaugh where Dr. Kropp fielded questions.

Mrs. Hill also attended the parent night at the high school about Vaping and Cyber Safety.

Dr. Barke thanked those who spoke at the Board Meeting and is looking forward to doing the work that is necessary to move forward.

Dr. Barke reported his attendance at the State of the District, the High School's Back-to-School Night, Los Alamitos Chamber Breakfast and Leisure World's Expo.
